My groups practise music video was lil uzi ert XO tour life, as I came to the group late, I wasn’t there to make the decision of which song to choose however I knew the song so I was fine with it. By practising on this video, made me realise how much work goes into a music video and the amount of time that goes into editing and the importance of lip syncing.
One of the good actions my group did is that we had a variety of shots like mid close up, close up, long shot and establishing shot, despite having a variation of shots it was difficult to keep the camera still and it was also difficult to edit over the music to match our lip sync because our lips were either to fast or not accentuating our words to the extent that it needs to be not only that one member in our group wasn’t familiar with the song which made an extra downfall for the visuals of the video and the lip sync. Also, the mise en scene wasn’t adventurous or unique because we used the fields in college to shoot the video which many of our classmates used. In addition, I know how to improve when I shoot my final music video.
Although there was no plan on how we were going to shoot the video and where was going to shoot, it was very unorganised as we were stuck on where the best area was to get the best shots so we spent most our time figuring out where our next shot should take place. Our footage came out very shaky this was because we didn’t use a tripod which made us realise how unexperienced our footage when its used manually by hand. Despite this our teamwork was very well executed as each member knew their role and contributed to the editing and the shooting of the music video
To conclude, our first attempt wasn’t completely all bad in terms of the shots we took however you can notice that the shots are very shaky and our edits were nowhere near related to the lyrics of the song so it looked weird and out of the ordinary. However, I have learnt how to better my skills when it comes to my final music video.
